My Go-To Makeup Look

Since I moved to Sweden I feel like wearing a lot more make up than I'd normally do and that is probably  because in Argentina girls don't wear as much make up as European girls. Here the ladies are not afraid of rocking a dark lipstick in the daylight and I absolutely love that. A few months ago I wouldn't have felt comfortable wearing lipstick at 7 am but now I do that... everyday!

I've been also trying to get out of my comfort zone and start wearing stronger eye make up looks at any time. My favorite make up look at the moment is this golden brown smokey eye with nude lips, it's very easy to do and I love how it suits my brown eyes.

To prime my eyes I use the Rimmel Scandaleyes shadow stick in the color Blackmail, it's very pigmented and it doesn't smudge. I also like to start with a black base since the day a girl in a Mac counter told me that the Woodwinked eyeshadow looks amazing applied over a black base. I tried both ways and over a black base it looks 10x more pigmented and beautiful. 

I wear then Mac Woodwinked all over my lids with some dark brown and black matte eyeshadows in the corners of the eye and the crease. Under the brow bone I wear a pale cream matte eyeshadow. I like to wear black eyeliner in my waterline and smudge it. Then I do a cat eyeline, curl my eyelashes and apply one YSL Babydoll mascara. 

Since my lips are a bit small for my taste, I line them with the Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic lip liner in the shade Innocent and then I apply some Nyx Pumpkin Pie lipstick.

Desde que llegué a Suecia me dieron ganas de usar más maquillaje, probablemente sea porque en Europa en general las mujeres usan muchísimo más make up que en Argentina. No todas obvio, pero acá no es extraño ver a chicas con los labios violeta a las 10 de la mañana... y eso me encanta! 

Siempre fui de querer usar más maquillaje, si no para que uno compra tanto? Pero me daba cosita, la verdad que no me gusta llamar la atención pero acá nadie te da pelota y si me dicen algo.. jamás lo entenderé! 

Aparte de experimentar usando labiales a las 7 am, también estoy queriendo salir de mi comfort zone y usar colores mas fuertes en los ojos a cualquier hora. Mi look favorito ultimamente es un smokey eye marrón con dorado y lo uso muchísimo.

Como base para la sombra uso Rimmel Scandaleyes shadow en el tono Blackmail, es súper pigmentada y no se sale. Me gusta usar una base negra para la sombra porque luego uso Mac Woodwink y el día que compré esta sombra la chica de Mac me dijo que queda hermosa sobre una base negra, probé de ambas formas y aplicada sobre base negra queda mil veces mejor.

Aparte de Mac Woodwinked, uso dos sombras matte, una marron y una negra, las aplico en los costados y cuenca del ojo y las disfumino. Debajo de la ceja uso una sombra crema matte.

Para darle un aspecto más fuerte al look uso delineador en lapiz en la línea de agua y lo disfumino. Luego me delineo el ojo con algún delineador en marcador, me arqueo las pestañas y uso máscara, en este caso YSL Babydoll.

Como tengo labios chiquitos me los delineo con el delineador de Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic en el tono Innocence y luego uso mi labial nude Nyx Pumpkin pie. Les gusta el look?

A Valentine's Kiss

Tomorrow can be sort of a special day for those who are not single and love to find reasons to celebrate. I'm very happy to fit in that category and tomorow will actually be the first St.Valentine's day I spend with somebody I love.
I've met my boyfriend over internet almost 5 years ago and it took us 2 years to get the courage to meet face to face. We met in Argentina and the next month I was already in Sweden, I came back before Valentine's day and somehow we couldn't be together that day for the last two years.
To be honest, he doesn't really care about special days and we haven't planned anything special. We are going to his parents town which is small and cozy and for me that's the best way to spend it; with family and people you love.

Even if my Valentine's day plans are nothing fancy and I probably end up in the local bar of the smallest town in Sweden, I do not want to miss the opportunity to wear my current favorite lip menu:
First of all, Lush Bubblegum lip scrub that leaves my lips soft and smooth and tastes delicious. Since I will be using lip liner I must use lip balm, I recently got the Weleda Everon Lip balm and omg it's amazing, it doesn't have the greasy and light consistency of most lip balms, this one is very thick and melts in the lips. It contains jojoba oil, organic shea butter and rose wax and reminds me a lot of Nuxe Reve de Miel.
I hardly ever wear lip liners but I figured out it was about time to use my MAC Brick lip liner, MAC says it's a golden red and I say it's more like a light red that can dry lips a little bit but it will last the whole day.
Last but not least I use my new favorite red lipstick, Mac Red (satin), a bright red with blue undertones that has a creamy velvety finish that for me it's just the non drying creamy version of Ruby woo (matte).

Do you have any plans for tomorrow or do you think it's just another day?

Mañana puede ser un día especial para aquellos que no están solteros o simplemente siempre encuentran razones para celebrar. Felizmente admito que encajo en esas dos categorías y para mí mañana es un día especial ya que es la primera vez que voy a pasar un Día de los enamorados con alguien que amo.
Como todas saben ya, conocí a mi novio por internet hace casi 5 años y nos tomó 2 juntar el coraje para conocernos cara a cara. Por alguna razón nunca pudimos pasar este día juntos pero sí nos mandabamos cartitas y esas cosas.
Honestamente a Linus no le importa mucho este día, no planeamos nada wow pero vamos a viajar al pueblo donde viven sus padres y me parece que esa es la mejor manera de pasarlo; con gente que uno quiere.

Aunque no vayamos a hacer nada increíble mañana, no quiero perder la chance de usar mi lips menu favorito en este momento:
Empiezo con Lush Bubblegum scrub, un exfoliante de labios que los deja suave y tiene sabor a chicle (se puede comer!), luego uso mi bálsamo de labios de Weleda Everon Lip Balm que es un divinor, no tiene la consistencía tipica resbalosa sino que este es mucho mas denso y sabe a miel. Tiene aceite de jojoba, cera de rosa, manteca de karité orgánica y me recuerda muchísimo a Nuxe Reve de Miel pero este de Weleda cuesta 4 veces menos.
Para que el labial me dure voy a usar mi Mac Brick Lip Liner que es un rojo muy suave con algunos tonos naranja, es medio secativo pero dura todo el día. 
Finalmente, mi nuevo labial favorito MAC Red, un rojo fuerte con tonos azules y acabado cremoso. Pertenece a la linea Satin y es la versión no secativa de Mac Rubo woo (matte).

Que planean ustedes para mañana o les parece un día como cualquier otro?

What's in my bag

One of my favorite posts to see is the What's on my bag tag. I know it can be such a personal thing to show on the internet but well, I'm curious. 

I have never done this tag before because my handbag has always been a complete mess and I kept all kinds of crap there, but now I managed to carry only the necessary and I really think I don't need anything else.

I got my handbag* from SammyDress.com as a gift and I adore it, you can see the link of the one I chose here. It took over a month to receive it so when it arrived I was very excited to see how it looked like since you never know what can you really expect when the price is so low and I had previously purchased a handbag from eBay also shipped from Hong Kong and the plastic smell was so intense that I couldn't wear it.
This handbag is extremely cheap ($20.17!!) but god, it looks a lot more expensive. It has such elegant details and it's so well made that it actually looks more expensive than some of my "expensive bags". It doesn't look very big on pictures and that's probably 'cause I'm a very big and tall person, I'd say it's a medium size bag and it has a lot of pockets inside, so everything fits there... One day I actually carried a whole melon there.
Inside my bag I always carry the same: First of all my passport since I don't have an official Swedish ID card yet, my keys with all the SpongeBob Squarepants characters there (yep, I love that tv show), my reading glasses, a pen because why not, my headphones, some black hair ties and my iphone 5s wallet case. This should have a whole post because it's just genious! Everything fits there and it keeps my phone safe from me dropping it. I got mine from eBay here.
I also try to always carry two lip products, one light and one dark just in case I change my mind. Today I picked Rimmel Apocalips in the shade Celestial and Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in the shade 107, probably my favorite lipstick. One last thing: powder. I always keep my MAC Pressed Blot Powder close to me and I don't think I will stop buying it. I'm currently loving the Rimmel Stay Matte powder but sadly it doesn't have a mirror.

And when I'm out I'm always listening to Tori Kelly, The Smiths or Cassia Eller. What about you?

Uno de mis posts favoritos para ver es el What's in my bag. Puede ser bastante personal mostrar lo que una tiene dentro de su cartera y bastante chusma una para mirar pero bueno, soy curiosa.

Nunca hice este tag antes porque mis carteras son un verdadero desastre. No les iba a mentir diciendo que llevo tic tacs, desodorante y perfume porque lo único que iban a encontrar son papeles y algún caramelo abierto pegoteado. Afortunadamente me propuse tratar de ser más ordenada este año y parece que lo estoy logrando.

La cartera* que uso ultimamente fue un regalo de SammyDress.com y la amo, así de simple. Pueden ver exactamente cual elegí aquí. Tardó más de un mes en llegar por lo que supuse que se había perdido y cuando me llegó la notita del correo morí de felicidad (sí, acá también nos llega notita del correo). 

Honestamente no sabía que esperar ya que unos años atrás había comprado una cartera de Hong Kong por eBay y no la pude usar porque olía a plástico.

En fin, mi cartera llegó y cuando la ví no lo podía creer. Sí, es bastante simple pero está tan bien hecha, los detalles son tan hermosos, los cierres y bolsillos internos, no me canso de mirarla. Y créanlo o no cuesta $20.17. Con esto paso a contarles que un mes antes de venir a Suecia me compré una cartera en Prune por $500 y hoy me di cuenta que se despegó una tira, lo que me hace pensar que estoy tirando mi plata cuando por muchísima plata menos puedo comprar algo de calidad similar o mejor. 

Entiendo que en Argentina hoy en día es un quilombo comprar de afuera pero hasta cuando vamos a seguir pagando fortunas por algo que no lo vale... La última vez que fui al shopping los zapatos estaban a $1300. I mean.. WTFF!! 

En fin, volviendo a la cartera, esta es en tamaño mediano y es de esas que parecen chicas pero entra de todo... un día llevé un melón entero jaja.

Adentro siempre llevo mi pasaporte ya que todavía no tengo un DNI sueco, mis llaves con mi llavero de Bob Esponja y sus amigos (no se metan con Bob porque lo amo), mis anteojos para leer, una lapicera, algunas gomitas para el pelo y mi funda-billetera para mi iphone que merece un post aparte porque es una genialidad, tiene espacio para varias tarjetas, dinero y viene con una case magnética que hace que el celular no se mueva. Compré la mía por eBay acá.

Casi siempre tengo dos labiales a mano, uno claro y otro oscuro por si me agarra la bipolaridad. Hoy elegí el labial Rimmel Apocalips en el tono Celestial y Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss en el tono 107, mi labial favorito. Otra cosa que jamás olvido es mi polvo compacto MAC Blot Pressed Powder en el tono medium que ya es parte de mi vida, creo que nunca voy a encontrar otro mejor aunque actualmente estoy usando el de Rimmel Stay Matte y me gusta mucho pero lamentablemente no tiene espejo.

Y cuando salgo casi siempre estoy escuchando a Tori Kelly, The Smiths o Cassia Eller ¿Y ustedes?

THE FULL COVERAGE CONCEALERS BATTLE

Concealers are definitely my favorite make up item. No matter what happens I don't go anywhere without
having my dark circles and hyperpigmentation covered. I really don't mind leaving home without eye or lip make up but my skin has to look as best as possible. Insecurity, low self-esteem? Probably. Having suffered of acne for many years made me feel ashamed of my naked skin... and still does. For this reason I have always looked for full coverage concealers and unfortunately, I tried too many that claimed to cover blemishes and hyperpigmentation and failed.
Now that I'm a bit older and that I've experienced many concealers, I can say I've found those that work the best on my skin, that give my skin the most flawless finish and most important; they do not break me out.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage SC-3 ($32.00): A heavy creamy concealer that can be very hard to blend if you do not warm it up on your fingers first. Best suitable on oily skin types as it is oil free, sets on the skin fast and won't move during the day. It can definitely cause dry patches so I'd stay away from it if I had dry skin. It comes with two shades that are very different so I only use half product which I think it's bit of a waste. One last thing, I never use this as a under eye concealer as it is very heavy for that area and can look cakey.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer NW20 ($18.00): Another heavy creamy concealer that feels very similar to the Laura Mercier one but this one feels a bit oilier and it's definitely easier to work with. This is the second pot I've bought and it's lasting more than a year so far. Compared to the Laura Mercier one, the Studio Finish Concealer is less heavy and still very pigmented. As it's not oil-free I only use it on my eye area and it really helps to neutralize dark circles.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NC 30 ($19.00): My all time favorite. It has a liquid formula and you need the tiniest bit to cover big areas. The pigmentation is insane, it covers everything and sets very fast. It comes with a pump that can be tricky and give you too much product. I use this to cover my hyperpigmentation and any kind of breakouts. It's oil-free and suitable for all skin types. I also use it on my eye area and it works beautifully.

ELF Maximum Concealer Nude (NW 25.. I believe) ($3.00): Last but not least, this is my latest concealer purchase and I'm loving it. It has a creamy and dense texture that feels like a very light-weight foundation. This concealer is the easiest one to blend and the coverage is really amazing for the price you're paying. As it is a bit lighter than my skin tone I mostly use it on my eyes and it does an amazing job. It works very well covering hyperpigmentation and doesnt not feel heavy on the skin. Another plus? It's oil-free!

I've also been eyeing the Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer but I have just started my first spending ban :( So, what is your favorite concealer?

Los correctores son definitivamente mi maquillaje favorito. No importa lo que pase, no salgo de casa sin tapar mis ojeras y manchas... la verdad que no me importa no tener maquillados los ojos ni los labios pero mi piel tiene que verse lo mejor posible. Inseguridad, baja autoestima? Probablemente. Sufrí de acné por varios años y nunca me gustó andar con la piel desnuda. Por eso siempre busqué correctores de alta cobertura y lamentablemente pasé por demasiados que prometían tapar manchas  y como siempre, no lo hicieron.

Ahora que estoy un poquito más mayor y con la piel algo mejor, puedo decir que encontré aquellos que dejan mi piel tan bien como si nunca hubiese tenido acné y lo más importante: no me sacan más granos.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage SC-3: Un corrector cremoso bastante pesado que puede resultar díficil de difuminar si no se calienta entre los dedos primeros. Perfecto para pieles oleosas ya que es oil-free, se adapta a la piel fácilmente y no se mueve durante el día. No lo recomendaría para pieles secas ya que puede hacer que la piel se vea todavía más seca y pesada. Es genial para manchas por su alta cobertura pero no lo usaría en el rea de los ojos porque puede ser muy pesado.

Mac Studio Finish Concealer NW20: Otro corrector cremoso parecido al de Laura Mercier pero este es un poquito más oleoso y más fácil de difuminar. Es el segundo que compro y me está durando más de un año. Comparado con el de Laura Mercier este es menos pesado pero muy pigmentado. Ya que no es oil-free lo uso solo en el área de los ojos y realmente ayuda a iluminar la zona y corregir ojeras.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NC 30: Mi favorito. Tiene una formula bastante líquida que cuando se seca no se mueve durante todo el día. La pigmentación es increíble y se necesita muy poquito para abarcar zonas grandes. Es oil-free así que lo uso en toda la cara y hasta ahora es el corrector que mejores resultados me da. Viene con un dosificador que puede ser algo complicado de usar ya que deposita demasiado producto cuando realmente se necesita muy poco.

ELF Maximum Concealer Nude (NW 25.. Creo): Ultimo pero no menos importante. Esta fue mi última compra en materia de correctores y lo amo. Me costó unos 3 o 4 dólares y para mi vale mucho más que eso porque es una pequeña maravilla. Tiene una consistencia entre cremosa y líquida (como una base) y no se siente pesado en la piel. Este corrector es el más facil de difuminar y tiene un acabado muy natural. Como es un tonito más claro que mi piel lo uso siempre en la zona de los ojos y a veces en el rostro y lo amo. Otro punto a favor? Es oil-free! 

También anduve mirando el corrector Full Cover Concealer de Make up Forever pero dado que mi economía no está en su mejor momento voy a tener que dejarlo pasar. 

Ahora les toca a ustedes contarme cual es su corrector favorito... Soy toda oídos!

Best of 2013: August to December

Here we are again doing the second Best of 2013. If you are curious about the first one that covers January to July, here is the link.

During the second half of the year I've been using pretty much the same make up products but I've been more into skincare and nails so, here are my favorites:

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer ($19.00): I've finally found the perfect concealer; liquid but not watery, full coverage (a little goes a long way) and very long lasting on my very oily skin.

Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara (£4.00): It was only £4 in Boots so I had to take it. It has a lovely plastic wand that separates the eyelashes pretty well making it look like I have a million lashes. Great everyday mascara.

Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Setting Spray ($29.00): Takes 1-2 minutes to set on the skin and it's perfect for oily skin types. I only use it during summer time as it works like a layer that protects my make up and holds the oils so I don't need to blot as much as I'd normally do.

Real Techniques Powder and Expert Face Brush: Everybody knows them and I reviewed them here. The Powder Brush ($9.99) is a big fluffy brush that is just too soft and works great for setting powder and bronzer. The Expert Face ($8.99) brush has short, tight bristles and it's excellent for blending liquid foundation.

OPI Natural Nail Base Coat ($9.00) : I really like how it protects and adds a subtle shine to my nails. 2013 was a bad nails year and this base coat really helped.

Essie Avenue Mantain ($8.50) Reviewed here. It's simply the most beautiful sky blue I've ever seen and looks very flattering on my yellow-tone hands. One coat does all the job.

Tea Tree Therapy Tea Tree Oil: Reviewed here. This year it was all about tea tree oil, it saved my skin and it keeps doing it everytime I break out. I use 4 to 6 drops of tea tree oil to combine it with clay powder and make a face mask or I just use it on its own to help cleaning my face overnight.

Lush Tea Tree Water ($21.95): Reviewed here. Another lovely product, it helps cleaning and clarifying skin tone and it's just like water but it tends to be a bit intense on very sensitive skin

Batiste Dry Shampoo Medium & Brunette: A must have for all brunettes. It's the best dry shampoo I've ever tried, it doesn't feel heavy or powdery on the hair and it sets dark which is just amazing because I hate having spend time removing white powder off my hair. Plus, it smells like chocolate. 

There are more products I loved this year but sadly I don't have them with me anymore. Those are; La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat, Kiko Ultimate Pen Longwear Eye Liner, Mac Cranberry and NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk. I can't wait to find more favorites this year!

Se terminó el año y me tomó unos días elegir mis favoritos de la segunda parte del 2013. Las curiosas por ver la primera parte del post pueden verlo acá. Durante la segunda parte de año usé las mismas cosas que en la primera pero le dí mas importancia al cuidado de la piel y las uñas. Estos son mis favoritos: 

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer ($19.00): Finalmente encontré el corrector perfecto. De consistencia entre líquida y cremosa este corrector hace milagros. Es oil-free y de máxima cobertura por lo cual muy poquito rinde mucho y se adhiere bastante bien en la piel super oleosa.

Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara (£4.00): Ni bien llegué a Londres pasé por Boots que es como un Farmacity y ví que esta máscara de pestañas estaba a 4 libras y no dudé en comprarla ya que había visto buenas críticas. Separa las pestañas muy bien pero da volumen sin dar ese efecto dramático por lo cual va perfecta para uso diario.

Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Setting Spray ($29.00): Es como un agua termal que se seca como un film en la piel impidiendo que el make up se mueva, derrita y también absorbe el exceso de aceites. Sólo lo uso durante días de mucho calor.

Real Techniques Powder and Expert Face Brush: Ya super conocidas, para mí las brochas de RT son las mejores del mercado en relación precio-calidad. 

OPI Natural Nail Base Coat ($9.00) : Me gusta como protege y da un brillo sutil a las uñas por lo cual muchas veces lo uso sólo.

Essie Avenue Mantain ($8.50) Review aquí. El azul más hermoso que ví y mi esmalte preferido por siempre. Ya me queda poquísimo y gracias a Jebús acá venden el mismo.

Tea Tree Therapy Tea Tree Oil: Review aquí. Este año me enamoré del tea tre oil. Uso 4-6 gotitas combinadas con polvo de arcilla para hacer máscaras faciales o el aceite sólo si tengo algún grano.

Lush Tea Tree Water ($21.95): Review aquí. Ayuda a limpiar y clarificar la piel. Puede ser algo fuerte en pieles muy sensibles.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Medium & Brunette: Must-have para las morochas. No deja ese residuo odioso blanco en el pelo ya que es un spray oscuro que además huele a chocolate.

Hay otros productos que también fueron mis preferidos pero hoy no los tengo conmigo como: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat, Kiko Ultimate Pen Longwear Eye Liner, Mac Cranberry y NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk. Ojalá que este 2014 traiga muchos nuevos favoritos!

Hit or Miss? MAC Tropical Taboo Mineralize Eyeshadow #Caribbean

If I had to pick only one MAC product to live for the rest of my life that would be an eyeshadow. I naturally assumed all MAC eyeshadows would feel rich and highly pigmented so I was quite surprised when I got the MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in the shade Caribbean.

MAC says that these mineralize eyeshadows have a powder formula that "provide exceptionally sheer coverage and lightweight application and that the color builds lightly, layer after layer, without heavy coverage. They also describe Caribbean as a "rose with pink and red pearl".

When I first saw Caribbean I was over the moon. It looks gorgeous on the pan and reminds me of a lighter version of Cranberry (review here) with pink tones and beautiful glitters. I tested it on my fingers and the first thing I noticed is that it felt dry. Being used to MAC's eyeshadows traditional creamy texture I found this  quite strange. Second thing I noticed is that it was sadly very powdery compared to other MAC eyeshadows and definitely not as pigmented either. 

Applying Caribbean onto my eyelids wasn't fun either. I used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk as an eyeshadow base and only attempted to apply Caribbean in the corner of my eyelids with a MAC 217 brush. Total mess. Glitters everywhere except where they should be. Tried with a smaller brush, it was a bit better. I do not like to wet my eyeshadows but I think the results would be better with some water, however this is just way too powdery and even if MAC recommends to build it in layers, I seriously doubt it's gonna work.

Some minutes after that I gave up and ended up applying the Kiko eyeshadow in Sparkling Orange as a base eyeshadow, a bit of Cranberry and some Caribbean over it. Not bad but it's not what I wanted plus.. Do you guys see any glitters?

This is the most dissapointed MAC product I've ever tried. It's powdery, not pigmented and expensive (around $20-$26 depending where you live). I think this would do an okey job as a highlighter or blush though, haven't tried that yet.

Have you had any similar experience with any MAC product?

Si tuviera que elegir sólo un producto de MAC para vivir el resto de mi vida serían obviamente sus sombras. Naturalmente asumí que todas serían muy pigmentadas y cremosas aunque sean en polvo. Lamentablemente me llevé una sorpresa cuando probé la sombra Caribbean de la colección Tropical Taboo Mineralize.

MAC dice que estas sombras tienen una fórmula en polvo que "proveee excelente cobertura ligera y son de aplicación liviana pero que el color se construye de capa en capa sin parecer pesado". También describen a Caribbean como "un rosa con tonos perla en rojo y rosa",

Cuando vi a Caribbean me encantó, se veía genial en el envase y me recordó a Cranberry pero un poco mas claro y con glitters. La probé en mis dedos y lo primero que noté es que se sentía seca, nada de textura cremosa. Lo segundo que noté es que era demasiado polvorosa, literalmente había glitters por todos lados y ni hablar de la pigmentación.

Aplicarla en los párpados no fue mucho mejor. Usé como base los jumbos de NYX en el tono Milk y sólo apliqué Caribbean en los costados de los ojos y fue un desastre total. Lluvia de glitters literal. Traté con diferentes brochas y nada. Pienso que puede resultar mejor usarla con agua pero a mi personalmente no me gusta. MAC dice que hay que trabajarla en capaz pero para mi todo eso es patrañas!

Al final terminé usando la sombra Kiko Sparkling Orange, un poquito de MAC Cranberry y Caribbean encima. No resultó tan mal pero no es lo que quería, además... ustedes ven glitters?

Así que este es oficialmente el producto mas decepcionante que probé de MAC, es muy polvorosa, poco pigmentada y cara ($20-$26 depende donde vivas). Quizás estaría buena de iluminador o rubor pero no lo probé de esta forma.

Weekend #4: food, haul and weight loss

I get the feeling that writing "Weekend" posts is the perfect excuse to not bother about  beauty blogging. I love blogging but lately I've been just not in the mood for it.

I kinda just started my new job at a travel insurance company and I really like it! I've also been doing some make up work on my own and working at the theatre which is always fun.

And even if everything is fine and I'm moving to Sweden really soon I'm not 100% happy. It's like I've always dreamt about moving there with my boyfriend but now that I'm so close I'm just very scared of leaving my friends and family. I really wanted to spend Christmas here where it's warm and everybody is laughing and making noise. Not saying Sweden is that boring but it will be really cold and I don't know, Christmas should be spent always at home! However, I'm very excited about going there, just a little upset it's happening so fast.
Have any of you been in this kind of situation before?  

Talking about more exciting things I wanted to mention that I lost more than 10 kilos recently! I've always struggled with it and not so many years ago I found out that I had a disease which was making my weight increase around 10 kgs A YEAR. From that moment I started taking medication and I got it under control but at that stage I my weight was insane and I never really lost any... until now. This is just the start of it, I still need to lose many many kilos but I'm looking and feeling better and that is a beautiful feeling.

This past weekend I had breakfast with two local beauty bloggers Van and Fer and it was so much fun, we talked mainly about nails and eat tons of food as usual. The next day was the Mother's day in Argentina and my family & I celebrated at a restaurant and later at my grandma's house with all my family. The weather was just perfect and we ended up the evening eating pizzas and watching old family videos. 

Ahh, I will miss my family so much...

Tengo la leve impresión de que escribir estos "weekend" posts es la excusa perfecta para  no escribir temas de belleza. Me encanta bloggear pero últimamente cero ganas...

Acabo de empezar mi nuevo trabajo en una empresa de seguros del viajero y me gusta mucho! También sigo maquillando por mi cuenta y los findes en el teatro lo cual es muy divertido y agotador.

Y si bien está todo genial con mi vida y me estoy mudando a Suecia pronto no estoy 100% felíz. Es como que siempre soñé con irme y ahora que estoy tan cerca tengo miedo de dejar a mi familia y amigos. La verdad es que quiero pasar las fiestas acá donde hace calorcito y estamos todos a los gritos y no en Suecia donde hace taaanto frío y están todos callados. No digo que sea aburrido allá pero las fiestas para mí son para pasarlas en familia. De cualquier manera, tengo muchas ganas de irme pero esto me tiene pensando un poco... Alguna vez se sintieron así?

Hablando de otras cosas más animadas quería mencionar que bajé más de 10 kilos! Siempre tuve problemas de exceso de peso y no hace muchos años descubrí que tenía una enfermedad que me hacía aumentar aprox 10 kgs por año. Desde ese momento tomé medicación y mi situación se controló pero nunca bajé de peso realmente, hasta ahora. Todavía tengo un largo viaje pero yo me veo mejor, la gente también lo nota y eso es un sentimiento hermoso. 

Este último finde desayuné con dos bloggers locales Van y Fer y nos divertimos bastante, comimos como cerdas y hablamos mayormente de uñas como debe ser.
El día siguiente fue el día de la madre y salí con mi famila a comer afuera y luego todos lo de mi abuela a terminar el día comiendo pizza y viendo videos familiares de los 90's

Ahh, Como voy a extrañar a mi familia! :(

The Beauty Five #1: Brushes I can't live without

Today I'm starting this new thing in my blog called 'The Beauty Five' where I'll be talking/reviewing five things, it can be similar products, five products from the same brand or just five random things I like... you get the idea. I thought this could be a better way to talk about many products without having to review each one of them in different posts or having to write way too much.

And I wanted to start these series with my five favorite make up brushes, the ones I use every single day and that I will be using until they day they break, and possibly repurchase.

I'll start off by talking about the Real Tecniques brushes, everybody knows them. Made with extremely soft synthetic hair, a very modern design and great quality, these brushes are a great deal for everybody. When I started studying to be a Makeup Artist I was told that I'll need to invest in high quality brushes and now I honestly think that some of the Real Technique brushes are way better than other more expensive options, specially all the Face brushes such as the Powder Brush, Blush Brush, and Expert Face Brush. I own the eyes set too but I don't think they are amazing.

The Blush Brush is my favorite, it has an oval shape and it feels so soft and gentle on the cheeks. I also use it to apply bronzer but if your face is too tiny you may wanna pass that.
The Powder Brush is absolutely huge, very fluffy and I personally think it's way softer than Mac 150 (powder brush).
My current favorite foundation brush is the Expert Face Brush. It has short bristles and looks thicker and tighter than the others. When I got it I was like.. gosh, this is so small! And now I'm glad it is, it gets in all the small areas leaving a flawless finish.
Another brush I love is the Deluxe Crease Brush, this one comes in the Eyes Starter Set. However, it doesn't work well on my eyes, it's too thick and big to blend my eyeshadow properly. For that reason I think it's excellent as a concealer brush, specially when I use heavy concealers like the Mac Studio Finish Concealer or the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. I'd say this is a mini size the Expert Face Brush.
Last but not least it's my Mac 217, the best brush I've ever known. It does all the job, literally changed the way I do make up. Works great with powder eyeshadow, cream eyeshadow, concealer, blends beautifully. Simply perfect.

Hoy estoy empezando esta nueva serie 'The Beauty Five' donde voy a hablar de cinco productos similares, o cinco de una misma marca, o simplemente cinco cosas que me gusten... ya entendieron la idea.

Y quería empezar hablando de mis brochas favoritas, esas cincos que hacen que maquillarse sea realmente fácil y rápido, que duran , que no se rompen ni se le caen los pelitos. Esas que el día que no  estén, serán reemplazadas por sus hermanas gemelas (?) (Perdón, tengo sueño)

Como muchas saben, las brochas de Real Techniques se han vuelto muy populares últimamente. Hechas con pelo sintético extremadamente suave, un moderno diseño y muy buena calidad, estas brochas son las más vistas en el mundo blogger y Youtuber. 

Cuando empecé a estudiar Maquillaje me dijeron que iba a tener que invertir en brochas de buena calidad, y la verdad que la mayoría son caras... Mac, Bobbi Brown, Suqqu, al menos las que me gustan a mí cuestan arriba de los 20/30 dólares cada una (!). En cambio, las brochas de Real Techniques cuestan alrededor de 20 dólares el set con 4/5 brochas o 9 dólares las brochas que vienen individuales tipo la Blush Brush, Expert Face Brush y Powder Brush. Gran diferencia.

La Blush Brush (brocha de rubor) tiene una forma ovalada y es muy suavecita para las mejillas. También puede ser usada con el bronzer si es que no tenés la cara demasiado pequeña.
La Powder Brush (brocha de polvos) es muy grande y mega mega suave, tengo una de Mac que me costó mucho  más cara y sin embargo pienso que esta de Real Tecniques es mucho mejor.
Mi brocha preferida de base actualmente es la Expert Face Brush. Tiene pelos cortos y más apretaditos que las otras. Cuando la vi por primera vez dije 'malísimo, es muy chiquita para mi cara' y hoy me alegro que así sea, cubre todas las zonas de mi cara muy bien dejando un acabado perfecto.
Otra brocha que me encanta es la Deluxe Crease Brush, esta viene en el Eyes Starter Set y está pensada para difuminar la sombra pero la encuentro demasiado grande y tupida para eso. En cambio, la uso para el corrector de ojeras que tiene una consistencia más pesada. Esta es como una mini versión de la Expert Face Brush.
Última y probablemente la mejor, la Mac 217, la mejor brochita que conozco. Excelente para sombras en polvo, crema, corrector de ojeras, difuminar. Es perfecta.

MAC Cranberry and life update

 Sometimes it's not possible to be a good blogger. I think of blogging all the time but I just can't seem to sit down and write a bit. I've been working for three weeks non stop, kind of sure I didn't have a single day off but I can't complain cause things are going very well.

I recently started to work in a theatre on the weekends as part of the make up artists staff for a new play (and the premiere is tonight!). Everything is so new and fresh, we are not sure how it's gonna turn out but I really like it, the people is so nice that I don't even mind waking up at 8 am on Sundays and not getting paid for it. 

I've also just got a new job that starts on October and I'm quite excited about it, sadly it's not beauty related but I get to speak English all day and the pay is good. It's just for a few months but suits me perfect as I will soon move to Sweden and need to save lots of money.

And besides all that, I've been working on my own doing peoples make up a lot lately, usually after my main job... meaning I get home after 21hs. 

I'm very very tired but I feel that my life is starting to make sense... I know that can sound a bit dramatic but this year wasn't my year and things are getting better now. Maybe nobody cares of what I'm writing now and I should go straight to the review but well, I wanted to explain a bit why I haven't been blogging often :)

Working in the theathre is awesome and we get to play with a lot of colors and textures. I pretty much wear neutral eyeshadows all the time so I felt like doing something different now that I'm inspired.

I took my mom's MAC Cranberry eyeshadow the other day 'cause I thought I could needed it for a work.

MAC Cranberry is a dark berry red with a frost finish, very pigmented and absolutely perfect for fall/winter time. There are so many ways to use it but I opted to do a smokey eye with some black eyeshadow. I usually blend everything when I get close to the brow bone but this time I didn't, I wanted a very dramatic finish and so I also added some dark plum lipstick.

A veces se complica ser una buena blogger. Pienso bastante en ellos pero simplemente no puedo sentarme a escribir, vengo trabajando tres semanas seguidas sin día de descanso pero no me quejo porque las cosas andan bien.
Recientemente empecé a trabajar en el teatro El Colonial en una obra que empieza bien desde abajo y está hecha con mucho amor y dedicación: La Venganza del Conde de Montecristo (estrena hoy a la noche!!). Soy parte del staff de maquilladoras y me estoy diviertiendo demasiado, la paso tan bien que no me importa mucho levantarme a las 8 am los domingos y que no me paguen.
También conseguí un nuevo trabajo fulltime en una empresa que aunque no tenga nada que ver con el rubro belleza, me da la posibilidad de hablar inglés todo el día y poder ahorrar para el viaje. Últimamente venía trabajando en mi laburo actual que no me gusta mucho y quería cambiar pero ser maquilladora freelance no es lo más estable del mundo. Por suerte éste nuevo trabajo es sólo por un par de meses y me viene bien para tener algo fijo antes de irme a Suecia.

Y bueno, esto de estar tanto en contacto con el makeup y trabajar en el teatro te abren la cabeza un poquito, jugamos mucho con los colores y texturas y vengo bastante inspirada. 
Generalmente soy de usar colores neutros en los ojos y si bien quiero probar colores nuevos no me voy a ir directamente al amarillo... probamos con MAC Cranberry?
MAC Cranberry es una sombra roja oscura/bordó con un acabado satinado, la pigmentación es increíble y es un color hermoso para invierno (que lamentablemente ya está terminando). Hay muchas maneras de usarla pero opté por hacer un smokey eye con negro sin difuminar tanto los bordes, dando un efecto bastante dramático al combinarlo con labios oscuros.

Best of 2013:Ja nuary to July

The first part of the year is gone... How did this happen so fast? I still cannot believe it.

Talking about beauty, I don't usually do monthly favorites so I thought it would be a good idea to think about the products I've been loving this year. But hey, those would be too many so here is a 'small' list of some products I found this year and that I cannot live without.

Y la primera parte del año se fue... Cómo puede ser?

Hablando de temas de belleza, muchas conocen ese TAG en el mundo blogger que se llama 'Monthy Favorites' donde uno habla de una pequeña cantidad de productos que anduvieron amando ese mes. Yo generalmente no hago esto pero sí encontré varias cositas este año que me encantaron y que ya no puedo vivir sin ellas... Aquí estan:

Eyes: I'm all about neutrals, shimmer or matte I love them all. The Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is pretty much perfect, a great color selection, very pigmented matte eyeshadows and the packaging is light, steady and comes with a big mirror.
I've been also loving all the L'oreal Color Infalible eyeshadows, I own a few and specifically like Iced Latte as it looks great on the browbone and the tear duct area. Many people rave about them, the quality is excelent and they are a great choice if you cannot afford high-end eyeshadows.
Last but not least, MAC Woodwinked is a lovely golden brown that a girl at a Mac counter convinced me to get. It looks gorgeous over black smokey eyes.

Ojos: Todos tonos neutros, shimmer o matte... me gustan todos. La paleta de sombras Naked Basics de Urban Decay fue mi joyita del año, con 5 tonos matte y uno shimmer, alta pigmentación y un packaging liviano pero fuerte se lleva todos mis suspiros. Ah, y tiene un espejote. 

También me encantan las sombras de L'oreal Color Infallible, tengo varias pero Iced Latte es mi preferida porque es ideal para usar en el hueso de la ceja, lagrimal y como iluminador. No siempre se encuentran sombras individuales de tan buena calidad en la farmacia.. La verdad que me gustan mucho y el precio es accesible comparado con sombras Mac por ejemplo.

Última pero no menos imporante, MAC Woodwinked es un marrón con tonos dorados que una vendedora de Mac me convenció de comprar... Es hermosa para usarla sola, con un smokey eye marrón o sobre un smokey eye negro.

Lips: I'm not a girl that wears too much lipstick but when I do it, it has to be something dark. 

During summertime I used Burt's Bees Pink Blossom daily, I don't really like light or bright lip colors but this tinted lip balm has just the enough amount of color I need, just a hint of pink that looks natural and feels very moisturizing.

Mac Rebel and Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick #107 are my favorite autumn/winter lippies. Rebel is a plum shade with an opaque finish and 107 is a deep burgundy with a velvety matte finish. Both have a great formula but 107 is the most longlasting one.

Labios: No soy de usar labiales diariamente pero cuando lo hago tiene que ser de un tono oscuro. Durante el verano solamente use Burt's Bees Pink Blossom casi todos los días. No me gustan los tonos claros ni muy vibrantes y este lip balm tiene el monto exacto de color que necesito aparte de ser súper hidratante.

Mac Rebel y Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick #107 son mis labiales favoritos para otoño/invierno. Rebel es un tono ciruela con acabado opaco y 107 es un color vino oscuro con acabado matte. Los dos tienen una muy buena fórmula pero 107 dura años.

Face: I cheated a bit here, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer was purchased on 2012 but I didn't really get to use it until this year. This highlighter is shimmery without having any gross glitters, great for the tear duct area, great to be used alone as an eyeshadow and it comes with a huge mirror. It creates that healthy glow we all love. 

Talking about concealers I found that Inglot Cream Concealer in Peach is the best one to cover any blue/purple dark circles, it has a medium to full coverage and a luminous finish. I've been also loving the Neutrogena Skin Clearing Blemish Concealer #medium a lot, it has a liquid thick formula that contains salycilic acid that covered my blemishes and acne scars so well. Very recommended for acne sufferers.

Revlon Colorstay for Combination to Oily Skin in Fresh Beige is one of my favorite foundations. Well, it was my favorite until I got Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in Bamboo Beige! Both foundations are oil-free with a medium to full coverage, Revlon Colorstay has a semi-matte finish and lasts ages while Silk Creme has a luminous finish that doesn't last that long but it's a lot easier to remove from the skin. I set these foundations with my favorite drugstore powder, Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in light. I love this powder because it's a great dupe for Mac Blot Pressed Powder but way cheaper, it's very soft, colorless and comes with a big mirror for touch ups.

Talking about primers, I only have one favorite this year, Benefit The Porefessional that does a good job at minimizing the sizes of the pores and lasts a long time. 

And I'm cheating again when talking about blushes, my favorite this year so far has been the Physicians Formula Happy Booster which is a mix between a hightlighter and a blush but unfortunately is broken and I haven't fixed it yet. It makes me happy, the color is gorgeous and it's probably the only pink blush that suits me. My second favorite blush is Illamasqua Excite, a bright peach matte color that I love to wear during summer time.

Rostro: Acá hice un poco de trampa, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer fue comprado en el 2012 pero no llegué a usarlo como dios manda hasta este año. Es un iluminador que no contiene glitters, va genial en la zona de lagrima, hueso de la ceja y como sombra también. Dá ese efecto de brillo saludable que me encanta.

Hablando de correctores, Inglot Cream Concealer en Peach es el mejor para cubrir cualquier ojera violeta/azul, tiene una cobertura medium to full y un acabado luminoso. También me encanta Neutrogena que es liquido pero denso, de alta cobertura y contiene ácido salicílico que trata los granitos. Usé muchísimo este producto cuando mis granos eran violetas (!!) y lo volvería a comprar mil veces, recomendado para las chicas con acné!

 Revlon Colorstay para combination to oily skin es una de mis bases favoritas. De hecho, era mi favorita hasta que apareció Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation en Bamboo Beige. Las dos bases son espesas, oil-free y tienen una cobertura medium to full. Colorstay tiene acabado semi-matte mientras Silk Creme tiene acabado luminoso y no es tan duradera como la de Revlon. Fijo estas bases con mi polvo Maybelline Dream Matte Powder en light, es muy liviano y un dupe para MAC Blot Pressed Powder, aunque diga que el tono es light yo lo encuentro traslúcido y viene con un espejo grande para retoques.

Hablando de primers sólo tengo un favorito este año, Benefit the Porefessional que hace un muy buen trabajo minimizando la apariencia de los poros, especialmente en verano... y dura muchísimo tiempo.

Y hablando de rubores de nuevo hago trampa, mi favorito no está en la foto porque se me rompió :( Es el Physicians Formula Happy Booster, el de los corazoncitos que todas conocen. Amo el packaging, amo que venga con una brocha suavecita y espejo y que deje un brillo rosa muy saludable en las mejillas. Mi segundo favorito este año es Illamasqua Powder Blush #Excite, un naranja coral matte altamente pigmentado como veran en las fotos, se necesita muy poco para dar color y lo más probable es que termines con la cara como un payaso la primera vez que lo usás. Muy lindo para el verano.
