Favorite Hair Products + How I grew my hair 30 cms in 1 year

Before heading into hair products I'll talk a lil' bit about my hair...
I've always had long wavy hair, vey messy to be honest but I wouldn't dare to do anything about it... and quite honestly I didn't have any idea that there were so many hair styling products out there.
Back in 2011, the ombré madness started to hit Argentina and I had to join the wagon. I went to the hairsalon and let them burn it. My hair was literally yellow and by trying to make it look more ashy it turned out being green/grey. Not cool.
Thanks to one of my best friends we managed to make it look blond but the damage was already done. Once you bleach your hair in such a fast drastic way there is no turning back. But again, I had no idea.
And well, I loved how it looked when it was curled or straight but mine was naturally messy and I hate messy hair so by 2012 I decided to cut the hell out of it and I lost a big fat amount of hair. My boyfriend wasn't happy at all....
You know that if you have really long hair, cutting it above your shoulders is scary but I was bored and wanted to try something different. I liked how it look but the most important thing, it was extremely healthy.
By this time I was very into beauty blogs so I started to buy many products considering that I was decided to make my hair grow healthy. And the truth is that the healthier you keep it, the less you need to use styling tools that will hurt it.
I've been using the flat iron for years and the less I used them, the quicker my hair felt better. Since I cut my hair in 2012 I think I may have used the flat iron or curling tool a total of 10 times. You have no idea how important is to not use these terrible things if you really want your hair to be strong, healthy and not frizzy.
My hair grew more than 30 cms in a whole year, this is insane. I do know that the genetics are a big part of it but I'm sure that it wouldn't have grown so healthy and quick if I had use styling tools frequently. I honeslty use them only when I think is absolutely necessary like very special parties, and the next time I wake up feeling sorry for my hair cause it just looks terrible and takes several repair masks to make it look good again.
I have also done some highlights and it hasn't damaged it as I waited 4 months between each process and didn't use styling tools.
Now, I'm not a hair nun. I do style my hair. I blowdry 70% of it with my hands and when it's feeling dry I use the brush. To avoid hairspray I blowdry it upside down.
Right after I blowdry it I go somewhere colder and move it with my hands so it adapts to the temperature, I let it rest for 10 minutes while I do my make up and when it's less fluffy I put some serum. I do these steps always, I have too much hair and otherwise it gets very frizzy. That's all.
Now onto my all time favorite products :)

Shampoo:
Dove Hair Therapy: Dove is my favorite drugstore hair brand, this shampoo saves my hair everytime I accidentaly use other drugstore shampoos. It's very nourishing and soft.
Alfaparf Milano Midollo: This italian brand is one of my favorites! Alfaparf is not that expensive but unfortunately only sold in salons or hair shops. Midollo Shampoo is reconstructive as the name says. I shouldn't abuse of it but I use this every time I wash my hair, it really feeds it with magical stuff that my hair loves. I do recommend any Alfaparf product.
L'oreal Professionnel Shine Blonde (Purple Shampoo): I bought this shampoo right after I got my blond highlights. The purple micro-pigments help neutralise unwanted yellow-orange tones, definitely a must have for hightlights and ombre and bleached hair. I use it once every three weeks and I notice the difference. This little bottle will last a lifetime!

Dove Hair Therapy: Dove es mi marca 'económica' favorita.
Alfaparf Milano Midollo: Alfaparf is da bomb.

Conditioners
Lush American Cream: Nomnomnom! This conditioner has the best fragance in the world, like vanilla sauce with cream. Provides a great shine but it's not the best detangling product.
BKD Caviar Liss & Shine Conditioner for Straight Hair* : I was kindly sent this product to test a few months ago. Black Diamond is a luxury hair brand in Argentina. I started using their products last year and it has really helped me ever since. I don't know if BKD products are available internationally but they should be.
This conditioner is my absolute favorite, it arrived to my life when I had lost faith on conditioners (if that makes sense lol!). I was using hair treatments instead of conditioners as they weren't just good enough and most times I'd end up with some greasy left overs in my hair. I also had problems finding a good detangling conditioner that wouldn't make my hair stiff. I love this one, it's very moisturizing, good for detangling, and leaves a nice shine after my hair is dry. I'm very proud that it's an Argentinian product and I'll definitely miss BKD once I move to Sweden.

 Hair Treatments (aka my loves)
Antiall Barro Vegetal Hair Treatment for Dry Hair: This is probably the cheapest hair treatment on the drugstore, it's around $2.5 and I use it as conditioner. It's kinda crazy as it is really good, way better than many other more expensive options. I always dry my hair with  towel before using conditioner so it really absorbs the product, specially with this hair treatment that is not thick.
Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque: The absolute best hair product I know. This is just amazing. The first time I used this product I applied too much and my hair didn't fully absorb it so when I blowdried it looked greasy and I was dissapointed. The day after I woke up with the most amazing hair in the world, my hair had absorbed all its magic overnight and it did a miracle. This truly repairs hair and moisturizes leaving a gorgeous smell that lasts for many hours. Plus, you need the tiniest amout as it is very thick.

Serum?
Even if Serum is absolutely necesary for me, I haven't found one I can't live without yet. I have been using Inecto serums for ages but I think I could find something better.

These are my hair favorites, if I had to pick only one for the rest of my life I'd probably pick the Macadamia Mask. Have you tried any of these? What are your favorite hair products?
Flo x

Besootes, Flo x

  3. Great for you that your hair grows so quickly! Mine grows really quickly too and I went from a super short pixie to what I have now in 2 and a half years :) Also I just saw that you used the American Cream shampoo and I heard that it's really good but if it's not that good for detangling I might keep my hands away from it ;)

  11. I've tried the Macadamia mask, and didn't really like it to be honest. I too felt like my hair is greasy, but mine stayed greasy... The only hair product that I can't live without is Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle. It does magic! I'm still searching for other amazing products, though, so I'll definitely check out the shampoos you've mentioned.

  16. I totally agree with you that if you want to grow healthy and strong hair, it's best to avoid heat! I'm also lucky in that my hair grows very fast, but I don't use much heat on it and I know that helps a lot too :) Great post!
