Worth the hype? | Revlon Colorstay Foundations for Normal/Dry Skin and Combination/Oily Skin

Hi everybody, I've been a busy bee lately and although I do check blogs all the time, I just cannot find time to blog myself.
Not so long ago me and my boyfriend decided to be brave and sent a visa application to the Swedish Migrations Board so I can move to Sweden to live with him and this has been beyond stressfull. I've been separated from my boyfriend for over six month and we can't reunite until this application is approved... It's very hard and sad :(
I'm also having a terrible time at work and my skin is suffering the consequences. I got some kind of severe acne in my lower cheeks but these days it's under control and I'm ready to have my doing some chemical peelings!

Enough negativity, let's move onto the review:

I first heard about Revlon Colorstay Foudation for Combination /Oily Skin while watching Ingrid (MissGlamorazzi) Youtube videos, her acne looked similar to mine and her skin is very oily.. just like mine. She has been raving about this foundation for a long time and I thought to give it a go.
I purchased the the Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily skin in #250 Fresh Beige last March in Florida, USA, where the weather is so humid you wake up looking like the Lion King.
I had high expectations of this foundation and it did not dissapoint me. The first time I used it I spent the whole day in Disneyland and it lasted so well that I couldn't believe it. I also bought the shade 240 Medium Beige for winter time.

Hola a todas!

What I like about it:
- Comes in 20 shades
- Offers medium to high coverage
- Great for problematic skin, acne skin
- Lasts forever
- Thick liquid consistency
- It has a semi-matte finish, I only apply powder in my T-zone
- Controls my T-zone very well
- It's very affordable

What I don't like:
- As it lasts forever, it sinks into the skin and into the pores during summer. I recommend using a primer to sooth that area
- Not easy to blend. I have to apply it quickly and work on each area at the time. It dries out quickly.

As you can see, my sister's skin tone is quite balanced. She has some dark circles and red cheeks.
This foundation provides high coverage that looks a bit heavy on her skin (I applied too much foundation). However, this can be blended for a natural finish. In my case, I always add a bit more to conceal my blemishes :)

-Buen precio

No me gusta:

My youngest sister has dry and slightly darker skin than us and picked the Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Normal/Dry skin in #320 True Beige. As I have not tried it myself I'll only tell what she's been saying about it.
She applies her foundation after her moisturizer and says it lasts a long time. However, after 8-10 hours she starts noticing dry patches in her cheeks.
As you can clearly see on the picture, this one has a lighter consistency than the one suitable for combination to oily skin. It also has a medium to full coverage. Only one layer was applied to my sisters naked face (right side).

What she likes about it:
- It doesn't look heavy on the skin
- As it is a formula suitable for dry skin, she points that it's not sticky
- Affordable
- Blends beautifully
-Not a thick formula, very liquidy

What she doesn't like:
- Whenever she has skin allergies the foundation will start looking cakey in that area.

Overall we are quite pleased with these foundations. The one for combination/oily skin is my HG foundation as I haven't found anyone that figthts oily skin so well.

Have you tried these products? What are your thoughts?

  8. I like this foundation a lot! I do agree that you have to work fast or it becomes problematic to blend. My only gripe is that the colors for super fair skin like mine have a slight grey undertone.

Awesome review! I completely agree with all points that you made! :)

  13. Hola Flo!
Cualquier cosa puedes hablar conmigo.

  15. I really like this product, I use it mostly during colder parts of the year because it's to heavy for me in the summer. But the coverage is amazing! xx

  16. I have heard very good things about the Oily/Combo skin one for that skin type. Good to hear that it's terrific in terms of staying power and provides excellent coverage. The shade range is quite large as well which is always a plus :)
